Modular Design

This exploration investigates modular design through the development of a repeatable geometric unit capable of expansion, variation, and aggregation—much like a motif that evolves across different conditions. The process began with physical models defined by precise joinery, allowing structure and connection to drive form. As the investigation progressed, I focused on the mechanics of those joints, using the trapezoid as my foundational module. Its angular geometry became both structural system and formal language, informing three distinct applications—a chair, a table, and a partition—each derived from the repetition, rotation, and aggregation of The same trapezoidal unit. Through this process, the work examines how a single geometric logic can expand across scales, transforming joinery into architecture and motif into inhabitable form.
